Taree and environs, the latter known by the names of surrounding lakes and encompassing river, the Manning, is home to the mighty Tip Riders. Manning-Great Lakes Tip Riders is a newly formed mountain bike club catering for riders in the Manning Valley and Great Lakes regions on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia. Primarily we ride in Kiwarrak State Forest (with over 40km of singletrack) a mere 7km from the Taree CBD. Ultimately the club aims to liaise with State Forests of NSW and Greater Taree City Council to promote mountain biking in Kiwarrak and put the region on the map as a destination for both racing and social riding.

The Tip Riders are known for riding FROM (and not in) the local tip, contrary to any rumours you may have heard. Despite an unnatural attachment to petrol blowers the Tippees are very friendly and mostly harmless.

Social rides

Primarily we ride in Kiwarrak State Forest with over 40km of singletrack and park outside the Tip on The Bucketts Way between Taree South and Tinonee.

The trailhead is straight across The Bucketts Way from the grassed parking area.

Social rides are usually held in Kiwarrak State Forest at:

  • 9:30am Monday (Ladies only)
  • 5pm Wednesday (bring lights)
  • 7am Saturday
  • 2pm Saturday (Ladies only)
  • and 2pm Sunday afternoon rides are becoming popular.

However it is best to check whether anyone is riding before venturing out at these times. Bourke's Bicycles in Taree (215 Victoria Street) is a good starting point before heading into the forest, with the staff happy to advise on possible rides. While you are there pick up a copy of the trail map or download it Here: TRAIL MAP
